it's been (5) days since my kids arrived - and it's been a busy almost-week.
this is the nice part of camp, when you've established rules and boundaries, and finally feel like you're no longer living with (12) little strangers - while not being sick of them. yet.
today was a lovely lazy sunday - roll-in breakfast, home-made donuts, "non-denominational" chapel service. i taught cooking class in the afternoon to (6) 10 year olds - we made cupcakes and frosting, and i nearly had a finger bitten off from offering an icing bowl up for licking-out.
now, i am enjoying an illicit diet coke on infirmary duty while the sounds of shrieking little girls waft across the cool night air . . .

changed my mind. doing laminaria from spring 08 knitty, with this gorgeous yarn from etsy knittinpretty.it's 100% soysilk, which i've never worked with before, hand-spun and hand-dyed in reds, oranges and purples; hard to find lace-weight yarn in such deep saturated colors. on its way to the ol'wav soon!
i feel as if i have lots of ideas and lots of inspiration for this blog - an amalgamation of different themes - but they will come and go as my life focuses on one or the other.i read a number of blogs focusing on varied subjects - personal style, cooking, knitting, travel - even body modification blogs. and these are all such things that i love - how could i possibly pick just one for this journal?my day-to-day life does not revolve around one focal point - at least not usually. i am one of those people who are gifted/cursed with short bursts of enthusiasm. starting and continuing a new venture - be it wardrobe_remix, vegan cooking, tattoo research or knitting projects - comes naturally and quickly, and it feels great. finishing on the other hand . . . having a specialized blog, for me, would prove to be a short-lasting endeavor.while one subject of interest may dominate at one time, i envision this blogging project [which i hope hope hope continues well! i may have to be more disciplined - comment to keep me going!] to be a reflection of my daily life. at the time, i'm living at summer camp - so being outdoors on trip and telling you wacky stories about my kids is the highlight. in a couple of months, i hope to move the focus to more of a life blog - highlighting clothing and personal style, knitting projects, mine and adam's cooking and our adventures abroad - keeping in touch with our friends and family and contributing to different online communities.
i just got my assignment for camp trips - had to wrangle a bit but it was worth it.i'm leading a five-day canoe trip on moosehead lake in northern maine. this is the first year this trip has been run at camp and i'm very excited to test-run the itinerary.
